Lost in the NEA
Shown a high-grade example but never taught to build their own, step by step. Weeks of "Am I doing this right?" and more pages that don't earn marks.
GCSE · IGCSE · A Level DT
Without the NEA overwhelm or exam guesswork. Expert tuition from an active Edexcel examiner who marks against the scheme as it stands today.
Why marks slip away
None of them are about ability. They're about missing structure.
Shown a high-grade example but never taught to build their own, step by step. Weeks of "Am I doing this right?" and more pages that don't earn marks.
They know the content, but command words, longer answers and showing working trip them up. Marks disappear even when they understand the topic.
Generic feedback and outdated Grade 9 exemplars point students the wrong way. Marking expectations change, and advice has to change with them.
School deadlines, exams and manufacture all collide. Coursework gets rushed, theory revision slips and confidence drops.
The DTTEACH+ method
Tap each one to see how it works.
Build a focused, high-quality NEA around what the assessment criteria actually reward. Students learn why strong work earns marks, how to apply that thinking to their own brief, and how to keep the final product tied to the original user, purpose and design intent.
Turn subject knowledge into marks by mastering command words, question structure, maths and science application, technical terminology and longer responses. Students learn to spot where marks are lost and exactly what to change next time.
Replace overwhelm with a personalised roadmap that balances NEA milestones, core theory and exam preparation. Students know what to prioritise, stay ahead of deadlines and walk into the exam prepared, calm and in control.
Every student Hafizur has tutored has improved by at least two grades, with all of them reaching grades 7–9 (A–A*).
Meet your tutor
"Students should be working to what earns marks now, not to an exemplar that quietly stopped being a grade 9."
I'm Head of Creative Arts and have taught Design & Technology across grammar, public and private schools. As an Edexcel examiner, I mark against the live specification and read the principal examiner reports every year, so my teaching changes whenever the mark scheme does. I specialise in the part students find hardest: connecting maths, science and 3D digital design inside a real design brief.
